Hungry ghost festival were celebrated on the 7th month of Chinese calendar by the Buddhist, Taoist and also since the Chinese ancient religion has believe the gate of hell will be open for the hungry ghost to seek food an entertainment on the world. According to their understanding the hungry ghost can emerge from neglect or desertion of ancestor and also from the violent and unhappy death. Usually the devotee families will offer prayers to their deceased ancestor with joss sticks, burn the hell bank notes and other form of joss paper, serve the food offerings and the priests and monks will have special rituals on a certain days to entertain the hungry ghost during the ghost month.
